HAPPY TAILS: LUCY – formerly MERCY!!!!! (her adoptive brother is Schroeder so we went with a Peanuts theme)Caroline and family adopted Lucy from HBR just over a year ago! As she celebrates her first Gotcha Day, we asked the family some questions about LUCY: 1. FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO/EAT/ENJOY?Her favorite thing to do is hands down bike rides with dad. We have a K9 jogger for our bikes and Lucy and dad go all over town. She simply hears the garage door open now (where our bikes are) and she goes wild! To be fair she’s just as fond of cuddles and belly rubs – she can never get enough of those. As far as eating – we have yet to find ANYTHING she doesn’t like! She is very food motivated and can often be found sitting pretty next to the treat cabinet. Holding one paw up trying to look extra cute!2. FUN/INTERESTING STORY TO SHARE?We’ve found she quite likes to swim! She was very curious of the pool – but very hesitant! She kept inching towards it – we finally helped her in and had to hold her for all of two seconds and she was off! She now climbs the ladder herself when we are in there (or tries really hard!). Her new brother is an older dog. He is relatively quiet and very low key. Lucy has brought out his puppy side from time to time and it’s been so amazing to see them play together!3. ANY ISSUES ADAPTING TO NEW HOME?She was a bit hesitant at first. Following her new brother around for the most part. We do take the dogs to daycare once a week or so. She would stick to her brother there as well. But in no time we heard of all the new friends she was making at daycare on her own. She still tends to stick close to her brother at home but made our home her own fairly quickly. 4. ANY WORDS OF WISDOM/ADVICE TO SHARE WITH POTENTIAL ADOPTERS?There’s something so special about the bond you create with an adopted dog. The trust you create and build on is so incredibly rewarding. We are so blessed to have had Lucy join us – the house is full of life! We are so happy to hear LUCY is doing so well! Thank you for choosing adoption and giving LUCY an awesome new life!
