February $5 Friday is fast approaching! On the 23rd of Feb we are launching a fundraising campaign to help with some of our very expensive vet bills for some very deserving dogs.
Bear has been dealt a rough hand and is dealing with Boxer Colitis. He is getting some medications to help treat this issue. But his treatments are expensive and include multiple visits to the vet as well as a special diet which will be approximately $5,000 plus. That doesn’t include his vaccines, neuter and microchip. Bear is a very gentle boy and will be a great addition to someone’s family but he will be in care for a while until he is feeling better.
Cashew has come into care extremely emaciated. We want to ensure he is getting the best care and make sure he doesn’t have any underlying medical conditions. For this reason he will have multiple visits to the vet including seeing an Internal Medicine Specialist and a specialist in Toronto for an abdominal ultrasound. He is also receiving a special diet and supplements. Cashew will be under HBR care for a long time until he is ready for adoption. To this date HBR has spent $700 on Cashews medical bills. This total doesn’t include the generous amount paid for by TAS. This sweet boy is so deserving of a loving life and has a wonderful temperament. He is going to make someone a wonderful family addition.
Libby came into care with a skin condition, bilateral ear infections, ulcers and clouds in both eyes and a luxating patella. Through a strict salmon diet we have cleared up her skin issues and her ear infections. Through multiple visits to the vet for her eyes including seeing a certified ophthalmologist in Toronto, her eyes are cleared of ulcers. She will always have a cloudiness to her eyes but it is merely cosmetic and she does have vision in both eyes. She has been spayed and had her nares surgery at a specialist in Barrie. She was micro chipped and has her vaccines up to date. Now she has been booked with a specialist to have patella surgery. Once that surgery is completed and she has recovered she will be a new dog and will be available for adoption. It’s been a long and expensive road with Libby but she is truly an amazing dog and will be a wonderful addition to someone’s family. Her medical care is approximately $6,500. That total does not include her regular supplies like food, treats and supplements.
These are just three dogs in care that have hefty care bills. We have multiple dogs in care with food, supplies and veterinary needs. If you are able to donate $5 towards our $5 Friday it will make a difference in someone’s life
Thank you for your continued support. We couldn’t do what we do without you.
